My husband and I, like most people of our generation from the US, worked for years in the corporate world. We bought a house, had two cars and spent most of our waking hours working. We had a dream that we would retire someplace tropical and live out our golden years on a beach with a pina colada in hand. We ditched the corporate world in 2015 and opened a restaurant in San Antonio, TX. Though the restaurant was quite successful, the hours and the stress of running a restaurant were simply not for us. We decided to take the plunge and hit the road at age 45. We sold everything we owned and moved to Central America with four suitcases and a dog.
